On Monday, Donald Trump urged Republicans to reject any deal with Democrats to raise the debt ceiling and let the country risk default. Economists and administration officials have warned that defaulting on our debt would have dire economic consequences, but for Trump there is an upside: the crisis would prevent President Barack Obama from being reelected.

Stop. The. Presses. THE Royal Couple, William & Catherine, flew a commercial flight home to London from Los Angeles on British Airways at the end of their official visit to North America. They opted not to fly home on a private jet (which they flew to Ottawa on June 30th) and instead hopped a commercial flight. Granted, the duo sat in first class on the London-bound flight, the Daily Mail reports, but they were amongst civilian travelers nonetheless.

Hackers broke into the FoxNewsPolitics account early Monday, leaving a series of six tweets reporting that Obama had been shot to death in Iowa and the shooter was unknown. The Secret Service said Monday it will investigate the hacking of Fox’s political Twitter account over updates claiming that President Barack Obama had been assassinated. In a statement posted on its website, Fox News called the tweets “malicious” and “false.”
Freak, Tragic Amtrak Accident
I’ve traveled on the Amtrak and always thought it the safest way to travel, but freak accidents can always happen. Five people remained unaccounted for following a fiery crash involving a big rig and an Amtrak train in the Nevada desert, but investigators say they’ve yet to find any more bodies in the wreck that left six dead. The driver of the truck, a conductor and four others on the train were killed when the semi-trailer truck plowed into the California Zephyr at a highway crossing about 70 miles east of Reno. Because “Weiner Gate” as it’s been dubbed is just down right funny, it’s worth being tagged as more entertainment than politics. I can’t believe engaging in intimate chat with ladies is now worthy of resignation (or impeachment in the case of Clinton). A throwback to our Puritan roots I guess. Weiner is now being investigated to determine if he used government funds or texted on the job; imagine if every boss who did seemingly inappropriate things in his personal life was forced to step down- what a slim workforce we would have!
